Why we built Vendwa

We kept meeting the same seller.

She runs a boutique — maybe in Accra, maybe Kumasi, maybe from her living room with an Instagram page and a WhatsApp line. Her business is good. Her phone is the problem. Customers message at midnight and she's asleep. They ask “last price?” and she's serving someone else. They say “I'll pay tomorrow” and tomorrow swallows them. She loses sales she never even saw — not because her products aren't good, but because she's one person and the phone never stops.

The tools on offer didn't fit her. Auto-replies say “we'll get back to you” — which is exactly what her customer didn't want to hear. The big chatbot platforms were built for call centres in other countries: menus, buttons, English only, card payments. None of them could do the one thing every Ghanaian sale runs on: negotiate.

So we built the shop assistant she'd actually hire.

Vendwa is an AI sales agent for Ghanaian shops that answers customers on WhatsApp and Instagram 24/7, negotiates within the owner's floor price, takes orders, sends receipts, and collects Mobile Money.

It greets customers the way Ghanaians greet. It answers in English or Pidgin, whichever the customer speaks. It knows “do last for me” is the start of a negotiation, not a complaint — and it holds your floor price like it's guarding its own money. It sends the MoMo prompt while the customer is still excited, and a proper receipt after. And it always knows who the boss is: you watch everything, whisper instructions it follows mid-chat, and take over any conversation with one tap.

Ghana first, on purpose

We didn't build a global tool and translate it. We started from how selling actually works here — the negotiation, the MoMo, the Pidgin, the customer who found you on Instagram but wants to pay on WhatsApp — and built outward. Ghana is home. The rest of Africa is where we're headed.
