The Vendwa Voice Notes Project has ended

Effective 15 October 2026 · Closing notice. This replaces the Participant Terms (version 1.3).

The Voice Notes Project ran from 7 August 2026. We stopped taking new voice notes on 17 September 2026, and the project closed fully on 13 October 2026.

What this means

• We no longer collect voice notes, and we do not pay for voice notes.
• Vendwa does not pay for voice notes, tasks or sign-ups. If someone asks you to record voice notes for money in Vendwa's name, it is not us.
• The project's WhatsApp bot is switched off. Sending VOICE no longer starts anything.

How payment worked (kept for the record)

• GH₵5 for each voice note we accepted, up to GH₵75 for a full set of 15.
• Paid by Mobile Money, to the number and registered name the participant gave, 1 to 3 business days after we accepted the notes.
• A part set was paid for every accepted note. We made no deductions.
• We never asked for a MoMo PIN, and we never asked anyone to send us money.

Asking about a past payment

If you took part and think we still owe you money, email support@vendwa.com. Tell us the WhatsApp number you recorded from and roughly when you finished. We keep the payment records until 30 September 2027 so we can answer you. If we owe you money, we pay it.

What happened to the information

• Our live systems. On 14 October 2026 we removed the project's records from Vendwa's live database: names, WhatsApp numbers, MoMo details, email addresses, consent records, payment records and recordings.
• Recordings we accepted and paid for. We keep these as an internal test set, to check how well speech technology understands Ghanaian voices. This is the use participants agreed to in the terms. The test set has no names, phone numbers, MoMo details or email addresses. A voice can still identify a person by how it sounds, so we do not call it anonymous. We never publish, sell or share these recordings, and we never use them to identify anyone.
• Recordings we did not accept. We do not keep them.
• A backup for our records. Before removing the records, we made one backup copy. It is kept offline, and only authorised BestDid staff can open it. It holds the payment records (name, WhatsApp number, MoMo details, what we paid and when) and the accepted recordings. We keep it only to answer payment questions and for our accounts, and we will delete it by 30 September 2027.

The promises we made about accepted recordings still stand: we will not publish them, sell them, give them to another company for its own use, use them in any advert, or use them to identify you.

Your rights

For this project, BestDid is the data controller under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). You can ask us what we still hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@vendwa.com and tell us the WhatsApp number you took part with. We answer within 30 days.

If you ask us to delete your details, we delete your payment record from the backup. After that we cannot answer a payment question for you. A recording already in the test set stays there, as the terms explained, but nothing we keep will link it to your name or number.

If you are not happy with how we handle your request, you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
